Ashtanga Vinyasa was popularized in the 20th century by K. Pattabhi Jois, who learned it from his teacher Krishnamacharya. It is a dynamic, energetic practice that links breath with mindful movement in a fixed sequence.
Pranayama means the expansion and regulation of prana through the breath. Ayurveda, one of the world's oldest holistic healing systems, is woven into our teacher training. You will learn how health depends on the balance of body, mind and spirit, how the five elements relate to the human constitution, and how small changes to daily routine and diet can support long-term wellbeing.
Hatha Yoga is the classical system of physical postures and energy practices. You will study each traditional asana along with its benefits, modifications, contraindications and the use of props, and learn how to sequence them safely.
Meditation trains attention and awareness inward, cultivating a clear, calm and stable mind. You will learn a range of techniques and how to guide others through them.
Understand how the body works in yoga practice, including the benefits and contraindications of asanas and pranayama, so you can teach safely and adapt practice for different bodies.
Study the traditional philosophy, concepts and history of yoga, along with insights from modern research, and learn how to bring this holistic view of life into a modern lifestyle and into your teaching.
